Interview

An Interview with Demi Gods

ByDCR January 23, 2022January 24, 2022
Demi-Gods

We had the opportunity to sit down with Demi Gods, a rising underground artist from Australia releasing unique music ranging from deathcore to hyperpop. He talked about his favorite releases, getting started making music, and more in this interview.

Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?

Hey I’m Demi Gods, I’m an underground artist from the Western Suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

When did you start making music?

I have been making music for years now, I started back in highschool making random stuff on FL Studio. I only started taking it seriously during lockdown in 2020. I kept at it, constantly improving with each song I would make, slowly figuring out how to better use all the plugins I had.

Who inspired you to start making music?

My best friend who goes by Dimmortalz. He was making music on FL Studio in highschool and inspired me to start. I had been learning guitar and we were in a band together and he showed me FL Studio and taught me some stuff and then I’ve always just messed around with FL Studio since then.

How would you describe your music style?

I create a variety of moods in my songs, from sad emotional chorus driven pieces such as Immortal and Stay With Me, to more upbeat songs such as Gatorade.

Who are you listening to now?

Currently I have been playing a lot of my friends’ music, who I have previously collaborated with. I love all of the stuff that they come out with. Hearing my friends’ works helps inspire me to keep on making more and more music. My good friends are Dimmortalz, Drip Lich, Yung Pines, Cam Szn, and anti inverse. I’ve also been listening to lots of Joji and Lil Peep. They have been massive inspirations to me, along with many many other artists from all sorts of genres from hyperpop to deathcore.

I also listen to my own music because at the end of the day I make songs that my friends and I vibe with, and some people won’t appreciate it the same way that my fans and I do, and that’s completely okay. That’s something I love about art. There’s something for every single person, even though we are all so unique on this planet, there is art that touches all sorts of people and I think that’s amazing.

Listening to my own music takes me away to places and let’s me feel all my raw emotions and I just hope that other people can find solace in my music. Then I’ve achieved my goal.

What’s your best project or single so far?

NO DIET is definitely my best project to date, it’s so hard to pick a favorite off the album but personally I really like Cut Ties and Wait Until The End.

I made Immortal a long time ago, but it has always been a favorite track of mine and I knew it needed to be on NO DIET.

Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?

Me and my boy Cam Szn got an EP in the works as soon as I get over COVID, I’m going to be mixing my vocals and then we just gotta do one more song and a release date will be decided then, but we’re hoping for an early release date between February and March of this year! Keep your eyes open!

Have any shoutouts?

I’d just like to shout out all my boys at Drip city—Cam Szn, Drip Lich, Yung Pines, Dimmortalz.
