An Interview with Saint Rel – Lil Peep and Lil Snupe Influences, Kentucky, and More!
We had the unique opportunity to sit down with the talented Saint Rel to discuss his upbringing, first time recording, moving around, and more…
Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?
I was born in Fairhope Alabama, but I was raised in Youngstown, Ohio and Pensacola, Florida. My mom moved us around a lot when she thought too much was happening in the area, like drug dealing and shooting(s). She tried not to expose us to that lifestyle.
When did you start making music?
I’ve been writing music since I was younger … like sixth grade, but when I actually got to record for the first time was after I graduated high school and had went off to this program up north in Kentucky … there was this guy, and he was recording people for 10 dollars so that’s where I made my first song…
Who inspired you to start making music?
Lil Peep and Lil Snupe.
How would you describe your music style?
Relatable, every song I’ve made you can relate to in some type of way whether it’s love, depression, cheating, anxiety, suicide, or bullying.
Who are you listening to now?
Lil peep!
What’s your best project or single so far?
Pretty Girls Cry Part 1.
Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?
Yes, I’m releasing a three song project called “it’s ok” before July.
Have any shout outs?
Shoutout to Semme Automatic, y’all check him out. He does all my mixing and recordings.
