An Interview with Activedevin

Activedevin is a Los Angeles-based creative who gained a strong following after the release of his single and music video Green Light on the Plug-N-Playlist YouTube channel. After dropping his project Hightunes in September 2020, he’s gearing up for the second volume later this year. We interviewed him to discuss his inspirations, favorite release, and more. 

Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?

Yo! My name is Devin Elliot a.k.a. Activedevin and I’m from Los Angeles, California.

When did you start making music?

I started making music in late 2017 after freestyling on Xbox for fun. I eventually recorded my first song on my phone.

Who inspired you to start making music?

Kendrick Lamar, Lucki, Chasethemoney, and Valee heavily inspired me to start being creative and make some great music.

How would you describe your music style?

I’d describe my music style as alternative trap or underground.

Who are you listening to now?

I listen to Lucki mostly. My favorite project is Days B4 3, and I listen to Autumn! and Summrs,

What’s your best project or single so far?

My best project so far is DASH BOY. I dropped that back in August and it was heavily inspired by relationship issues with this one female.

Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?

My next project is a collab project with my close friend and producer DezAFool. The project is called Hightunes Vol. 2. It’s a second part to the original Hightunes that dropped back in September 2020.
