An Interview with G Majestik

We had the chance to sit down with Jacksonville, FL recording artist G Majestik for an exclusive interview to chat about his influences, Lost Files project, playing football, and more.

Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?

Hey I’m G Majestik, I’m from Jacksonville FL!

When did you start making music?

I started making music in 2012 after losing my scholarship to play college football due to an injury. I needed to find an outlet to help express myself. I initially got into videography first, then that led me to music. A fun fact about me is that I mix and master all my own music and I edit all my music videos. I’m a real DIY artist so everything you see I create with my own hands and knowledge. I have been working on my craft for 7+ years. 

Who inspired you to start making music?

The people who inspired me to make music were Kendrick Lamar, ASAP Rocky, and Tyler the creator.

How would you describe your music style?

I would describe my style as southernplayalistic in better words, like a Florida outcast, someone that doesn’t really fit in with the culture of the south, but I still find a way to pave my own lane, I don’t try to be like anyone else but myself. 

Who are you listening to now?

My favorite artist is Kendrick Lamar but lately who I listen to the most is Playboi Carti. His music is just really exciting and gets me out of my seat. There is no one like him; his presence on the mic is unmatched.

What’s your best project or single so far?

My best project so far is my latest. It’s called Lost Files with my best single in my opinion being Magnito, a song featured on the project.

Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?

I have a lot more coming soon, coming out with another project called Florida Man and another project called Internal. They don’t  have a release date yet, but I have some great music coming on both projects. Also, I have my music video for my song King Kong from my latest project lost files coming out April 16th so be on the lookout!
