An Interview with M.O.T – The Lovers Camp

ByDCR December 30, 2019January 28, 2020

We had the chance to sit down with R&B, Hip-Hop, and Soul artist M.O.T to discuss his 8 years of making music, growing up on 90s rap, and more in our exclusive interview.

Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?

Hi my name is M.O.T I’m a 20 year old rapper from Youngstown Ohio!

When did you start making music?

I started making music when I was 12 years old. It started out just by freestyle on YouTube beats but then I decided to buy or create beats and write music to them.

Who inspired you to start making music?

The people who really inspired me to start making music were a lot of artists such as Nas, Jay-Z, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Mobb Deep, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G, 50 Cent, N.W.A, Ice Cube, Dr Dre. Snoop Dogg, and Eminem. I grew up listening to them as a kid from my mom and dad having me in the back seat of the car and just played a lot of old school 90s rap, and as I got older I decided music was gonna be my talent.

How would you describe your music style?

I would describe my music style on the lyrical side mixed with R&B, Hip-Hop,and Soul. It just depends on how I feel certain days and how I feel on the beat. Sometimes I feel like being smooth and gentle, or I feel like being energized and pumped, or I can feel like going crazy but creative.

Who are you listening to now?

I listen to a lot of artists who I feel are about something and talks about real life experiences or lyrical such as Denzel Curry, Zaia, Maxo, Clara Kent, Isaiah Rashad, SZA, Lord Apex, Westside Gunn, ASAP Mob, ASAP Rocky, ASAP Twelvyy … Boogie, Buddy, Lucky Dube, Sister Nancy, Shabba Ranks Tony Matterhorn, Gyptian …

What’s your best project or single so far?

I have a project called Twisted Mindz which came out in September 2019. Go check that out and download it on Apple Music, Spotify and Tidal and I recently dropped a single called The Lovers Camp.

Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?

The upcoming release to check out is my new love song called The Lovers Camp and I’m gonna be dropping The Frustrationz in January.

Have any shout outs?

I just wanna give a shout to everyone who’s supporting me and my music. Thank you I really appreciate it and you will hear more from M.O.T. Go download The Lovers Camp and Twisted Mindz!

Don’t miss out on M.O.T’s upcoming releases! Follow him on Spotify.
