An Interview with K. Cirrus
We sat down with K. Cirrus, a Virginia based artist, to discuss his unique name, his 15 years making music, favorite artists, and more. Check out the interview!
Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?
Yes indeed, I go by K.Cirrus. You know, Cirrus, like the cloud. I stay in the clouds and I just tend to sit above the rest. I’m from the Southside of Virginia, the country, the sticks. Brunswick County specifically, nearest Emporia and South Hill Virginia on all your handy dandy maps.
When did you start making music?
I actually began to make music about 15 years ago.
Who inspired you to start making music?
I would say that my friends, my teachers (in a roundabout sort of way by encouraging me to figure out a way to use my way with words and gift of gab), my parents, and favorite artists.
How would you describe your music style?
I would describe my style as an amoeba. I am everything. I can do everything. If you want bars, I got you. If you want dope melodies and catchy hooks, I got you. If you want a bop, I can do that. If you want deep thoughtful lyrics or passionate songwriting, I can do all of that. I just love words and know how to use them in any lyrical or linguistic setting. To tie a neat bow around it, I’m a Renaissance man.
Who are you listening to now?
The Pop Smoke. The latest DVSN album. myself. Still bumping Jay Electronica and Jay-Z… “A Written Testimony”. Always Big Krit. Always Drake. Always Jay-Z. Always The Game. Lots of R&B too. Rod Wave got some stuff off in his bag as well.
What’s your best project or single so far?
That’s tough. I would say all of my stuff is the best. Uhh, here’s what I’ll do. Just bar for bar, smacking you in the mouth with metaphors and wordplay, my single “On My Own”. If I wanted to go with the best overall song, from a sonic, catchy, radio perspective while still giving you a dose of lethal lyricism, “Destiny”.
Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?
Yes man, I’m actually working on my next single and an EP. They are both untitled at the moment, but the single will be out within a month or so and the EP within the next two. I will keep you guys posted and updated on all of that though.
Have any shout outs?
Of course! The most high for waking me up everyday. My family, my friends, my mama, and specifically my producer as well. Whats up Tim May! (@1timmayweather on Instagram).
Stay tuned for more from K. Cirrus. In the meantime, check out his latest work on Spotify, Twitter, and TikTok!
