Hey, thanks for chatting with us. Tell us a little about yourself.
I am Zaneta. I started doing music seriously about six years ago as a solo artist, but I always sang in different cover bands. In 2023, I started my own band. I compiled some of the DMV’s most talented musicians, and we perform a wide range of genres, including Rock, Go-Go, Pop, Funk, Blues, Jazz, and more.
Who or what inspired you to start making music? And, when did you start?
I’ve always been drawn to music and anything related to the arts. The therapeutic aspect of music is what constantly inspires me. It serves as a form of communication and, if presented correctly, can heal, solve, and maintain life.
What is your biggest challenge as an artist?
My biggest challenges have been marketing, social media, and pursuing gigs while running the band and writing songs.
What is your favorite project or single you have released?
“Runaway” is my favorite.
Who are your inspirations? What artists or bands are you listening to?
Tina Turner, Fleetwood Mac, Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse, Parliament Funkadelic, and many more.
What’s the process behind working on a song like?
Each song is different, but I typically find a producer’s work and listen to the track a lot to see what comes naturally. Sometimes, the name of the track can inspire the song’s melody and lyrics.
Tell me about your upcoming music and what inspired you to create it!
I am trying to get the band to record a couple of songs and create videos. I also plan on writing more once I can get some things off my plate.
What are your plans for 2024?
To headline shows, travel, and get the band and our music known.
