An Interview with Suspect Down
Welcome to our interview with Suspect Down, a rock band hailing from Northern Virginia. With influences spanning from jazz to classic rock, punk, and hardcore, their eclectic sound is sure to impress. In this interview, the band shares their inspiration for starting their band, their unique style, upcoming releases, and more.
Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?
Hey, we’re Suspect Down, we’re from Northern Virginia and we play rock & roll.
When did you start making music?
April 2021.
Who inspired you to start making music?
Collectively we have a lot of different inspirations from a lot of people and artists. A lot of inspiration comes from family and bands we grew up listening to. Influences span everything from jazz, to classic rock, to indie rock, punk, and hardcore. Maybe even some jazzy hardcore. And our eclectic influences certainly come through in the music we write.
How would you describe your music style?
We aren’t a “for fans of this” type band. As mentioned in our response about our inspiration, we don’t try to stick to one sound. We have songs that are reminiscent of the Clash, Metallica, Agnostic Front and more. Some songs we couldn’t describe if we tried. Maybe our fans can help?
Who are you listening to now?
We listen to a lot. Radkey, Zeppelin, Motörhead, Veruca Salt, Power of Zeus, Danzig, Misfits (Danzig and Graves era and we don’t care), Rancid, Bad Brains, Maiden, Deftones, Mariah Carey, The Carpenters, and more.
What’s your best project or single so far?
So far we’ve only released an EP, but we think the song F.L.Y.C. is one of the best yet to be released. We have a new single coming very soon!
Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?
New single dropping in February along with another in March or April. Full length album coming late summer.
Have any shoutouts?
Shout out to our families, friends, fans, Don Zientara at Inner Ear Recording Studios, TJ Lipple and our drummer’s wife for letting us practice at her house every week.
