Who is B-Lovee?
B-Lovee, whose real name is Qwayshawn Cannon, is an up-and-coming rapper. As a Maryland native who relocated to the Bronx, he began his music career in 2015, pausing it until the release of his debut EP, Courtlandtbaby in 2020. “IYKYK” and “My Everything” became viral hits in 2021, and in 2022 he was able to appear on songs with big rappers such as A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Digga D, and Coi Leray. Despite being an underdog on the music scene, B-Lovee is gaining major attention recently. Find out about other Bronx rappers by checking out our blog.
Known for sample-heavy tunes with fiery energy, B-Lovee is often credited as being the initiator of the New York drill sampling wave that is continuing across the genre today. “My first sample on ‘IYKYK’ shook the town. Once it went big, and ‘My Everything’ went big; everybody thought sampling was the way out.” He’s not lying, with over 16 million streams on his hit song “IYKYK”, many artists began releasing their own unique drill hits. In response, B-Lovee says: “like I said, when people see somebody do something, they’ll try to do it too.” While he has established a trademark sound, B-Lovee aspires to expand his capabilities. On one hand, the artist makes songs that resonate with the streets. While remaining true to his brand, he can also create heartfelt, emotional soundtracks.
In a short time, B-Lovee has made quite a name for himself. His most famous songs include Shot Down, Spot Em, Get Down or Lay Down, and Through the Coat. Currently, his song IYKYK is trending on YouTube as well as other social media platforms. In addition, his latest album Misunderstood is doing numbers and is well-received by fans. B-Lovee has had an amazing year, and I’m looking forward to seeing him take it to the top.
