Who is Set Da Trend?
Set Da Trend whose real name is Jeremiah Dixon, hails from the Bronx, a New York borough that carries a decorated hip-hop background that includes the legendary likes of Grandmaster Flash, Fat Joe, and KRS-One. But at 19, Set Da Trend injects young blood into the borough’s enduring legacy – and he’s bringing big Bronx energy to NY drill music. Check out other New York Drill Rappers featured on our blog!
After recording his very first song, this South Bronx native dropped multiple music videos that garnered millions of views in one year. Collaborations with other Bronx drill artists like Kay Flock, Dougie B, and C-Blu helped him establish his unique voice in an industry that’s becoming increasingly crowded every day. During all of this, Trend lost his father and a close friend. A battle with diabetes claimed the life of his father two years ago. In addition, he lost his friend, a fellow rapper named, Nazi. The adversities he has faced have not held him back but instead driven him to reach higher. There was also a rumor in the city that Set Da Trend had been hit by a bus. In a recent interview, he disproved this.
Despite his hardships, Set Da Trend has consistently provided new music for his fans this year. As a testament to his hard work, Set Da Trend has released 11 music videos on his YouTube channel in the past ten months. His hit song, Get Home, went viral after its release on March 18, 2022. The track is heartfelt, and Set Da Trend sends a message to listeners that life is hard, but if you’re strong and determined, you’ll prevail. The song has already racked up over 888,000 streams on Spotify. The accompanying music video was released on YouTube on April 27, 2022, and has already been watched 1.26 million times.
His growth in abilities and steady explosion after embracing every opportunity he’s been given have been inspiring. Even though the drill scene may be oversaturated, there is a lot of talent being discovered every day. I’m looking forward to Set Da Trend’s continued success in the industry!
