Who is Leon Thomas III?
Leon Thomas III was born on August 1, 1993 and is currently 28 years old. The singer, actor, record producer and songwriter was born in Brooklyn, New York. Making his Broadway debut in The Lion King at ten years old, Thomas is clearly meant for the spotlight.
After participating in other Broadway productions including Caroline, or Change and The Color Purple, Leon Thomas III made his way onto primetime television. Starring in Nickelodeon with Victoria Justice and Ariana Grande, and as the singing voice of Tyrone in The Backyardigans, Thomas continued to himself in yet another medium. Thomas also went on to co-wrote and co-produced four songs on his co-star Ariana Grande’s 2013 album titled Yours Truly. Leon’s other production collaborations include Toni Braxton & Babyface’s album, Love, Marriage, & Divorce, as well as Post Malone’s album, Stoney.
With Broadway, television, and production credits under his belt, Thomas decided to venture into singing, releasing his first mixtape in 2012. The project, titled Metro Hearts, includes six tracks and a cover of Drake’s hit, Take Care. Drake, however, also acknowledged Thomas’ talent, as Thomas co-wrote the song Gold Roses. From 2014 to 2019, Leon Thomas III released a series of mixtapes, including Before the Beginning and his debut EP, Genesis.
