Traditional Marketing Methods That Continue to Surprise Us

ByKatie Conroy June 6, 2022June 6, 2022

The world of marketing has certainly grown in leaps and bounds. However, some traditional forms of marketing have stood the test of time and continue to surprise us. Here are some more reasons why traditional marketing shouldn’t be forgotten. Want more tips on marketing your music or your brand? Read our other free artist resources or schedule a free consultation.

Billboards

Billboards are still one of the most effective ways of highlighting your brand – in a big way! Furthermore, it is a style of marketing that has existed for well over a century and continues to exist because of its evolving ingenuity. Also, the idea behind billboards is pretty smart too as you have a captive audience all throughout the day as people commute here, there, and everywhere which can be perfect for advertising your next music concert, especially if you’re planning an impromptu performance.

Flyers

Flyers also work surprisingly well despite the digital technology we have at our fingertips. But perhaps that’s the reason why; people still appreciate the personal touch that flyers provide, not to mention that the tangibility factor of flyers is often more memorable than other more modern forms of marketing where a personal touch is usually lacking.

That’s not to say that traditional forms can’t be incorporated with newer methods; in fact, it is this cross-functional approach that tends to work best. For example, you may be thinking of incorporating the message and graphics of your flyers and using these on your website. A website designer should know how to do this well. It may be a good idea to communicate your ideas with them by suggesting to them that they convert JPG to PDF so that you send multiple images at a time without compromising their quality.

Telemarketing

While telemarketing has its downsides, it is certainly worth mentioning because it caters to the masses. What’s more with telemarketing, what you see is what you get. In other words, you’ll be able to easily gauge whether your audience is interested in your merch because they’ll usually give you a direct answer as to whether they’re interested or not. Again, that’s not to say that one can’t combine telemarketing with another method if it excels more as part of an integrated marketing strategy.

How to communicate your message

Regardless of what marketing tools you decide to go with, whether it’s one, or a few, there are tried and true techniques that will help you succeed in getting your marketing message out there.

Create a memorable slogan

Slogans are important if you want your audience to remember your brand without you having to try too hard because it’s often just a few catchy words that are likely to stand out in your audience’s mind for some time to come.

Offers and discounts

Offers and discounts are an excellent way to generate instant interest in your merch or concert, especially when your customers can see real value in the offer. Don’t forget to take advantage of special occasions such as Black Friday, for example, to reap massive rewards for your sales efforts.

In the end, marketing is constantly evolving and progressing at a phenomenal rate. So, it’s always a good idea to stay on top of trends whilst not losing sight of the simpler and more conventional marketing tools that still work brilliantly today.

In summary, marketing is so diverse that many methods may work for you – traditional and new. Furthermore, if you thought digital is the only way to go to achieve your marketing objectives, you may want to rethink your marketing strategy to include traditional marketing too.
