Top 5 Emo Rappers of 2022

Emo rap is a genre of music that originated on SoundCloud in the mid-2010s. It has features of hip hop, rap, beats, heavy, and hardcore emo music. Several artists led the charge in the origination of emo rap. XXXTentacion, Juice WRLD, and Lil Peep were three of the most well-known emo rap. These artists have contributed to the development of this genre and have carried it for years. Now, there are many more artists involved in this world. Here we talk about five of the most popular, up-and-coming emo rappers to watch. 

1. Iann Dior

Iann Dior is an American emo rapper. Iann Dior, whose real name is Michael Ian Olmo, was born on March 25, 1999. Iann Dior has shown his expert skills since he started making music. He is well known for his 2020 hit Mood. His sound has really taken off and is now hitting Billboard Hot 100 charts with songs off his album called Gone Girl. He has collaborated with other hit musicians like Gunna, Machine Gun Kelly, and 24kGoldn. 

2. 24kGoldn

Speaking of 24kGoldn, he is another excellent emo rapper to watch out for. His real name is Golden Landis Von Jones, born on November 13, 2000, 24kGoldn has been making music since 2016. He first rose to prominence with a single called Valentino. It peaked at number 92 on the US Billboard Hot 100. He later released his first studio album called El Dorado which features people like Future, DaBaby, and more. 

3. The Kid LAROI

The Kid LAROI, was born Charlton Kenneth Jeffrey Howard on August 17, 2003, in Australia. He has received an APRA Award, an iHeart Radio Music Award, A National Indigenous Music Award, and has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, and more. He is a rising force in the emo-rap world, even with a shorter list of discography including a studio album and a mixtape called Kids Are Growing Up and F*ck Love, respectively. 

4. Quadeca

Quadeca, whose real name is Benjamin Lasky, was born on October 2, 2000, and goes beyond rapping, singing, and producing, as he is also a video game commentator. He was originally born in Los Angeles, CA, and has been an avid soccer player in the past. His interest in soccer was rivaled only by his interest in music. And he pursued a career in music and produced a few mixtapes including, Work in Progress, Nostalgia for the Now, and Bad Internet Rapper. These were all released to good success. His later album called Voice Memos peaked at number 42 on Billboard’s Independent Albums.

5. Spell Jordan

Spell Jordan is a twenty-five-year-old Washington, DC transplant, originally from Philadelphia, PA. Spell Jordan took the music industry by storm with a series of singles and albums, notably Models, feat. Lil Xan and FIGHT!, feat. Wavy Jone$ in 2018. On July 24, 2020, Spell Jordan released his latest full-length project, Underworld. With more than 4,000,000 streams and a national tour booked for 2022, Spell Jordan has created and built a unique and dedicated following.
