An Interview with Deserae Monique

We sat down with recording artist Deserae Monique to discuss her inspirations, growing up and moving around, synth-pop, and more in an exclusive interview. 

Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?

My name is Deserae Monique Felix, and my stage name is Deserae Monique. I usually say that I am from the east coast because I’ve moved around all my life, but the short simple answer is I was born in Madisonville Kentucky, and was raised in Ft Lauderdale Florida. I currently live in Los Angeles, California. 

When did you start making music?

I started making music about 5 years ago. 

Who inspired you to start making music?

Making music is always something that I was drawn to. I didn’t have any direction or specific person that got me into it.

How would you describe your music style?

My style is synth-pop. I like synthesizers and big drum sounds a lot.

Who are you listening to now?

I listen to artists who have very chill vibes like FKA Twigs, SZA, and Sevdaliza.

What’s your best project or single so far?

I release a song a month. I love all of my songs about the same. Some need more work than others, but they all have the potential to be amazing.

Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?

Yes I will be releasing a music video on YouTube on March 4th for my single called Robotika, and I will also be releasing a song on March 4th.
