Interview

An Interview with Jake Jones of Red Brick Road

ByDCR November 19, 2021November 19, 2021
Red-Brick-Road

We sat down with Jake Jones of the buzzing band Red Brick Road for an interview to discuss his roots in music, I Am The Fear, what’s next for the band, and more.

Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?

My name is Jake Jones, I am the front man of Red Brick Road and am from Detroit, MI.

When did you start making music?

I started playing guitar when I was maybe 4 or younger. By the time I was around 10 I started dabbling with recording, playing other instruments, and writing songs. By the time I was 14 I was pretty good with DAW’s and started producing hip-hop and EDM. All through high school and beyond I was in bands as well. I guess the short answer to this question is pretty much since the day I was born.

Who inspired you to start making music?

All the musicians of the past, there’s decades of really great stuff so I’m not even going to try to list them all. If I had to pick one though, Kurt Cobain. Aside from influences, I’d have to say my parents because they bought me my first guitar.

How would you describe your music style?

Eclectic, I just write and make whatever the hell I feel like, most of it definitely leans towards alternative and rock, but there’s a lot more to it than that, the new stuff is definitely a far cry from our first record.

Who are you listening to now?

At this second as I type this, Set It Off, I really dig them, lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of No Love For The Middle Child, Zero 9:36, JXDN, Badflower, Waterparks, Shinedown, Kenny Hoopla and you can always catch me listening to some Nirvana or Shinedown and of course Alice In Chains.

What’s your best project or single so far?

That’s released? I Am The Fear, for sure!

Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?

Nothing date-specific yet, but I have been working in the studio on some new stuff, probably looking at the beginning of next year for the next single and more than likely an EP in the spring.
