An Interview with MoneyChasinMiiklo

We had the chance to interview MoneyChasinMiiklo, an up and coming artist from the Seven Trees neighborhood of San Jose. Learn more about his come up, inspirations, and buzzing single Glock 22.

Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?

I’m MoneyChasinMiiklo and I was born and raised in the SouthSide of San Jose California, more specifically Seven Trees until my family had to move recently out of town because of rent prices.

When did you start making music?

I started writing music at around 12 or 13, but did not start actually recording until 14 … so I didn’t start uploading and making music for real until 2017.

Who inspired you to start making music?

In general my family inspired me. Growing up my cousins played classic west coast rap and when I started growing up I saw that I could get the family out of the bad area I grew up in by making music. 

How would you describe your music style?

I would describe my style as West Coast. I get a lot of influence from rappers like Shoreline Mafia, SOB, Mike Sherm, etc. although I sometimes make different tracks to explore my creativity.

Who are you listening to now?

Right now I’m listening to a lot of Lil Skies. There’s just something I really like about the way he spits bars and I was really influenced on one of my latest tracks.

What’s your best project or single so far?

My best single so far Is “Glock 22”, it was my first song recorded and mixed and mastered in a studio and has my most plays on Spotify. It’s also the song that people always tell me they like and is the only song with a music video done even if it wasn’t done professionally.

Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?

I’m working on an EP that’ll be made up of west coast tracks that I know people will love. 

Have any shout outs?

I wanna shout out all the boys from the clique. All my cousins that support me, taking me to the studio and making sure I have a hyphy life. Lastly I wanna shout out my home Seven Trees for raising me.
