George Katsos Searches for a Way Home
Washington, D.C. musician George Katsos continues the rollout of his upcoming EP, Blues Consortium, with his blues rock single “Middle of Nowhere.” Released on October 9, 2026, the song follows a narrator trying to find his way home while feeling no closer to the person or place he hopes to reach.
Moving through darkness and unfamiliar surroundings, the narrator encounters moments of uncertainty and relief. But even when he finds a place to rest, the feeling of being lost remains. It’s a song about searching for comfort and connection when the way forward isn’t clear.
A Journey Through the Unknown
At the center of “Middle of Nowhere” is a simple question: which way is home? As the narrator makes his way through unfamiliar places, the question takes on a meaning beyond finding the right road.
Katsos’s lyrics leave room for listeners to connect with that search in their own way. Home could be a place, a person, or a feeling that seems just out of reach. The narrator keeps moving, even when he’s unsure whether he’s getting any closer.
The single offers another look at Blues Consortium, Katsos’s upcoming EP, and the reflective songwriting he brings to his recent music.
A Life in Independent Music
Katsos’s relationship with music stretches back decades. In the 1980s, he participated in a final-night jam at the Cambridge Music Complex outside Boston before the building was demolished. The complex had been a practice space for local bands and members of groups including Aerosmith, Boston, The Cars, and The J. Geils Band. Its history helped spark Katsos’s interest in becoming a musician.
He went on to release music on 7-inch vinyl before taking a 20-year hiatus. Since returning to music, Katsos has continued writing and performing, drawing on his independent background and years of experience.
Today, he frequently performs at open mics in the Washington, D.C. area, playing original songs alongside covers of The Beatles. He has also performed at colleges in the Northeast and clubs throughout New England.
“Middle of Nowhere” continues that journey, bringing Katsos’s storytelling to a song about the uncertainty of finding your way home.
