IAMRONDO Releases Third Single

ByDCR October 19, 2026October 19, 2026
Your Pet

IAMRONDO just published a powerful new single that explores what comes after a toxic relationship, the heartbreak and pain of betrayal, and the freedom felt after finding independence. His third single, following the release of Arakis and Love Books earlier this year, Your Pet continues the theme of what the different sides of love and relationships look like through his music. The song was co-created alongside songwriter and music creator Bryan Daughtry. This single tells the story of someone who discovers that their relationship, built on trust, ultimately became a twisted tale of manipulation and control. The message behind Your Pet is that love isn’t what it always appears to be. The song opens with a critical line, that the relationship is “selfishness disguised as love,” immediately establishing the emotional conflict driving the story. What comes after is a realization that trust has been lost, promises have been broken, and the person you care about is causing more harm than good.

On Your Pet, IAMRONDO captures the complicated emotions that emerge after the end of an unhealthy relationship. Rather than focusing only on the negative emotions like anger or sadness, IAMRONDO acknowledges how hard it can be to reconcile positive memories with the realization that the relationship was still damaging.  The chorus brings one of the most compelling moments in the story. IAMRONDO writes “thank you, for all you taught, from when I was free, to when I was caught, I leave this note without regrets, and it sure was fun, being your pet.” These lyrics are a turning point. While there is bitterness over being controlled, there is also a sense of acceptance. The main character knows that the relationship taught them lessons they needed to learn, but still wants to move on.

The title of the song is a metaphor for the imbalance of power the main character felt during the relationship. It describes the feeling of being dependent on another person, a counter to the preconceived notion that love requires sacrificing one’s independence. As the song continues, the story changes from heartbreak into personal growth. The second verse reflects on a future that never happened: shared dreams that seemed on the horizon, but slowly faded from view. The lyrics center around survival instead of defeat. After the betrayal, the main character finds a new identity and determination to live their life to its fullest without the person who turned their back on them.

This emotional progression is what separates Your Pet from a traditional breakup song. The song speaks to anyone who has been through an unhealthy relationship, questioned their own judgement after being betrayed, or found the courage to rebuild their confidence after leaving. The themes of gratitude, resentment, and independence are sure to resonate with listeners of all ages and demographics. Instead of presenting healing emotional pain as a simple process, the song understands you can be appreciative for lessons that you’ve learned while being angry over how those lessons were taught.

IAMRONDO never puts himself in a box. His music flows between genres: pop, R&B, reggae and beyond. With each release, IAMRONDO continues to build a catalog exploring different music styles and themes. While Arakis was a flirtatious, reggae track about dancing, and Love Books was an R&B song about romantic expression, Your Pet focuses on the darker side of love. This single yet again shows IAMRONDO’s talent for turning direct and personal song lyrics into stories about relatable experiences.

Your Pet is about more than the end of a relationship. It’s about learning to separate love from control, accept difficult truths, and recognize the importance of knowing when to walk away. For listeners dealing with heartbreak, confidence issues, and relationship problems, Your Pet shares a reminder that personal growth often comes from uncomfortable experiences. IAMRONDO’s new single Your Pet is out now. Listen on your favorite streaming platform, including Spotify and YouTube to tune in to the next big thing in emotionally driven pop music.
