An Interview with Nod G
Nod G is the kind of rapper who treats music less like a hobby and more like a lifeline. Originally from Ocala, Florida, he’s an artist, songwriter, and entertainer who started writing as early as 12—pulled in by the poetry of hip-hop and the need for a real outlet. In this interview, Nod G opens up about using the booth as therapy, the intensity of turning trauma into art, and what it takes to keep pushing forward in an industry full of gatekeepers and noise.
Hey, thanks for chatting with us. Tell us a little about yourself.
Nod G. Originally from Ocala Florida. Artist, songwriter, entertainer.
Who or what inspired you to start making music? And, when did you start?
I was inspired to make music as a young kid that first fell in love with the poetry and needing an outlet for my emotions. Listening to hip hop and seeing the correlation inspired me to start writing music about my life and experiences as early as 12 years old.
What is your biggest challenge as an artist?
Cracking the code to the industry and getting around the gatekeepers and scammers. Nobody seems to know the answer, yet everyone wants you to trust their word.
What is your favorite project or single you have released?
My favorite project is actually one that’s unreleased. It’s a project I’m currently working on, and the first I’m planning to release in 2026.
Who are your inspirations? What artists or bands are you listening to?
My inspiration is my passion for creating and my need to have an outlet for my emotions. Music is my therapy. The mic is my voice, and the booth is my couch!
What’s the process behind working on a song like?
It’s intense. It’s reliving traumas and triggers. It’s the complexity of turning a life experience into art – music. It’s a love hate relationship.
Tell me about your upcoming music and what inspired you to create it!
I have two upcoming new albums I plan to release in 2026. They are both passion projects that are personal to me. They are inspired by my life, my losses, and everything in between. I also have a full-length interview from my original project and will be dropping an extended version of my first album (Smoke & Mirrors) when I’m ready to release that also.
What are your plans for 2026?
To take over the world!
At his core, Nod G is driven by passion, honesty, and the refusal to let outside forces dilute his voice. Even as he calls out the scammers and the unanswered “industry code,” he stays focused on the work—channeling life, loss, and hard-earned perspective into music that means something. With two new albums planned for 2026, an extended version of Smoke & Mirrors on the horizon, and a bigger unreleased project he’s most excited about, Nod G is stepping into his next era with intention—and, as he puts it, plans to “take over the world.”
