Interview with Gary Borkon of The Sweet Emotions

ByDCR October 5, 2025October 15, 2025

Philadelphia-born lyricist Gary Borkon is the wordsmith behind the rock band The Sweet Emotions. A lifelong music fan with deep roots in classic and modern rock, Gary channels personal stories—especially his love for his wife—into songs the band is preparing to share widely. He talks origins, influences, process, and plans for 2025.

Hey, thanks for chatting with us. Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Gary Borkon. I’m the lyricist in the rock band The Sweet Emotions, and I was born and raised in the Philadelphia area.

Who or what inspired you to start making music, and when did you start?
From a young age, I’ve loved listening to rock and many other genres of music, and I’ve always had the desire to be in a band.

What is your biggest challenge as an artist?
Getting the band’s songs heard by a large number of people.

What is your favorite project or single you have released?
To be announced.

Who are your inspirations? What artists or bands are you listening to?
My wife is my biggest inspiration. I really love a lot of songs by Billy Joel, U2, and The Beatles.

What’s the process behind working on a song like?
I really enjoy working on a song’s composition and going into the studio to record it.

Tell me about your upcoming music and what inspired you to create it.
The band’s upcoming songs are about the love I have for my wife.

What are your plans for 2025?
To help promote the songs on The Sweet Emotions’ self-titled debut album and build a growing fan base at our shows.

As The Sweet Emotions gear up to release their self-titled debut and hit the stage, Gary’s heartfelt lyricism and rock sensibilities are set to take center stage. Keep an eye out for new music and show announcements—the best way to support is to listen, share, and catch them live when they come to your city.
