Formed in early 2024, Valla and the Villains is a rising hard rock band that brings together decades of experience and a shared passion for powerful, emotionally driven music. The group blends old-school grit with modern intensity to craft a sound that’s both timeless and fresh. Driven by a love for songwriting and live performance, their chemistry and dedication are evident in every note. In this exclusive interview, the band opens up about their inspirations, creative process, and what fans can expect next.
Hey, thanks for chatting with us. Tell us a little about yourself.
The band “officially” started in early 2024. Steve is on bass, Cory is on Guitar, Valla is the vocalist, and Rich is on drums. Years of experience playing live and songwriting. Valla and Cory are prolific songwriters. Interesting blend of old and new school hard rock feel.
Who or what inspired you to start making music? And, when did you start?
Rich started in diapers, family and dad influenced him. Valla comes from a musical family, mother was a signed “Rockabilly” vocalist in the 80’s, her father an accomplished keyboardist. Steve and Cory simply “live” music and playing.
What is your biggest challenge as an artist?
Getting people hearing us, and getting the right gigs.
What is your favorite project or single you have released?
Our EP … it was an honor to record with Larry Millas and Jim Pererik.
Who are your inspirations? What artists or bands are you listening to?
LOTS… Steve and Cory are old school music fans, T Rex, New York Dolls … collectively Van Halen, Joan Jett, Aerosmith … and hundreds more.
What’s the process behind working on a song like?
It varies, often Cory has a riff and lyric ideas… Valla will add to or change them. Steve and Rich vibe well as a rhythm section and constantly bounce ideas off each other.
Tell me about your upcoming music and what inspired you to create it!
Five new songs… write what you know, fear, anger, loss, etc.
What are your plans for 2025?
Record next five songs, release, get solid gigs, we fit as a great opener for “bigger” bands.
Have any shoutouts?
Larry Millas and Jim Pererik – you guys rock.
