Hey, thanks for chatting with us. Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Claire Daniel and I’m 19 years old. I’m from a small town in Virginia and I’m the youngest of 6. I am currently a freshman at Radford University majoring in geology and minoring in history. I am a singer and songwriter.
Who or what inspired you to start making music? And, when did you start?
I was born into a musical family. My dad was a musician and my sisters (myself included) were heavily involved in theatre. I have always been surrounded by musical and artistic expression and it’s how I learned to perceive the world around me. I started singing when I could talk and am rarely not doing either of those two things today.
What is your biggest challenge as an artist?
My biggest challenge as an artist has always been finding myself as an artist. I can copy any singing style and do any genre but I am still discovering what my artistic vision is.
Who are your inspirations? What artists or bands are you listening to?
My major inspirations and who I listen to the most often are Faye Webster, Sierra Ferrel, Adrian Lenker, Lizzy McAlpine, and of course Dolly Parton.
What’s the process behind working on a song like?
When I’m not writing my own songs, my dad is a songwriter and will come to me with a song usually. From there we workshop it together through the melody and his sometimes strange choice of lyrics. Going to record is always nerve racking; I started crying the first time I went to record in a studio and ended up singing an octave higher than I should have…
Tell me about your upcoming music and what inspired you to create it!
All I Need is a song my dad wrote for me to sing. It’s a beautiful and romantic song that is ageless and meaningful. I always love connecting with my dad through music and retelling his stories.
What are your plans for 2025?
