Interview

An Interview with Barnaby Nagy

ByDCR October 15, 2024October 15, 2024
Barnaby Nagy

Barnaby Nagy is a name you will want to remember. Writing songs since the 2000s, this Hungarian singer-songwriter fuses rock, pop, and indie influences with meaningful lyrics that, as he puts it, “only the initiated will understand.” He records his music exclusively in the frequency of 432Hz which you might recognize from Mozart’s music. In this interview, he discusses his influences, style, process behind songwriting, and a lot more.

Hey, thanks for chatting with us. Tell us a little about yourself.

Hungarian singer-songwriter living in Colombia. Writing songs since the 2000s, fusing rock, pop, and indie with dense, meaningful lyrics that only the initiated can understand. Recording in the healing frequency of 432Hz that the original Stradivarius violins were tuned to and that Mozart, as well as Verdi, utilized for songwriting.

Who or what inspired you to start making music? And, when did you start?

At around the age of 14, I started to write music on my mother’s classical guitar inspired my Metallica and Nirvana.

What is your biggest challenge as an artist?

It’s difficult when you get started and no one believes in you nor do you get the opportunity of a mentor or someone who helps you to get to the next level.

What is your favorite project or single you have released?

I don’t have a favorite. Every song has its story and reason I like it but if I had to choose from the ones I released it would be At Last, as it tells the story of a massive life-changing transformation I was going through at that time.

Who are your inspirations? What artists or bands are you listening to?

Metallica, Nirvana, Oasis, Guns N’ Roses, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

What’s the process behind working on a song like?

Sometimes I just get inspired by a tune I’ve been fiddling with, or sometimes I have a topic that I just want to write a song about. Once the riffs are done … I start writing the lyrics.

What are your plans for 2024?

I want to get a good fanbase that wants me to make more music.

With a lot of music in the vault, Barnaby is gearing up to take his career to the top in 2025. For those interested in learning more about the artist, head over to his official website.
