An Interview with Brooke Mansy
When it comes to contemporary Christian music, new voices are emerging, bringing fresh perspectives and heartfelt messages to the forefront. One such voice is that of a young and passionate singer-songwriter from San Diego, California, who is on the brink of releasing her first album. At just 18, she’s already channeling her love for music and deep-rooted faith into songs that aim to inspire and uplift. We sat down with her to discuss her journey, inspirations, and the challenges she faces as she prepares to share her music with the world.
Hey, thanks for chatting with us. Tell us a little about yourself.
I am 18 almost 19 years old. I live in San Diego California. I have 2 siblings. I love to be active, the beach, bake, travel, etc. Ever since I could remember I have always loved singing. But it was a couple of years ago that I started writing music.
Who or what inspired you to start making music? And, when did you start?
I was inspired to start making music because I have always had a love for singing and I have a very strong Faith. I want to use the gifts and talents that God has given me for his glory. My goal is to spread His word and inspire others through my music. I started writing music when I was 16 years old but this past year I wrote almost every song on my first album.
What is your biggest challenge as an artist?
My biggest challenge is not knowing how to market myself, create content to post on social media, market myself, and reach an audience.
What is your favorite project or single you have released?
I have not released any yet, but a song I am excited to release is called “midst of it all.” It reminds me that through everything that we go through God is always and will always be there no matter what.
Who are your inspirations? What artists or bands are you listening to?
Lauren Daigle, Hillsong, and Elevation Worship.
What’s the process behind working on a song like?
I usually start a song by myself, on the piano, or just think of lyrics and a melody, and then I share it with my co-writer and we finish the song together.
Tell me about your upcoming music and what inspired you to create it!
My upcoming music is contemporary Christian music. These past 4-5 years have been the hardest years of my life, with many struggles and trials put in my way which has inspired me to write my music because through everything that I have been through God has been there with me through it all and has given me the strength to overcome. I want others to know how great God’s love is for us and how He always has a plan for us. Even when we face hardship and trials and wonder why this is happening, if we place our trust in God He will bring us out of it 1000x stronger.
What are your plans for 2024?
To release an album and continue to write music.
