An Interview with Caity Rose

ByDCR July 22, 2024July 22, 2024
Caity Rose

Welcome to our exclusive interview with Caity Rose, a talented indie folk artist hailing from Northern Virginia. With a background in music therapy, Caity has been immersed in the world of music from a young age, thanks to the influence of her musician father. Now, at 25, she’s ready to take a leap of faith and pursue a professional music career. Join us as we delve into her inspirations, challenges, and exciting plans for the future.

Hey, thanks for chatting with us. Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Caity Rose. I am an indie folk artist based out of Northern Virginia. I have been writing music my whole life and am ready to invest in myself and my future. As a music therapist, I share music constantly and unselfishly. My 25 years of life has been my time to take back my music for my own intrinsic wellbeing.

Who or what inspired you to start making music? And, when did you start?

As I said, I’ve been writing songs for a long while, 15 years at this point. My father was a musician and always had music in the house, whether that was listening to The Beatles on the radio or teaching me chopsticks on the piano. He inspired me to follow my dreams of becoming a music therapist, and is now encouraging me to take a leap of faith and try becoming a professional musician for a living.

What is your biggest challenge as an artist?

My biggest challenge as an artist is my perfectionism. Learning music formally engraves a “right or wrong” in your body. Which is true to some point, it’s either a ‘C or it’s not’. There is also a more relevant side of music that I personally need to focus on more: accessibility and fun.

Who are your inspirations? What artists or bands are you listening to?

Artists who have inspired me include: Ingrid Michaelson, Miley Cyrus, Laufey, and Imogen Heap. Bands who have inspired me: The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, The Staves, Angus and Julia Stone, and The Civil Wars.

What’s the process behind working on a song like?

It can vary depending on when inspiration strikes. Sometimes I start with the lyrics and others with the music. Both are equally important to the meaning and depth of the music I create.

Tell me about your upcoming music and what inspired you to create it!

My upcoming music is my first release. I’d like to start with a single, then EP, and finally my full album. These are songs that I have written throughout my adolescence and I’m excited to share as an introduction to who Caity Rose is as a musician.

What are your plans for 2024?

My plans for the rest of 2024 is to complete my EP and album, perform as much as possible, and further develop my social media presence.

Have any shoutouts?

Shout out to you all (and) thank you for taking the time to read this!

Caity Rose is on a remarkable journey, driven by her deep love for music and her commitment to sharing it with the world. As she prepares to release her first single and EP, we can’t wait to see how her unique blend of indie folk resonates with listeners. Stay tuned for more as she embarks on this exciting new chapter in her musical career.
