An Interview with L Gwoppo

ByDCR March 8, 2023March 8, 2023
L-Gwoppo

L Gwoppo is a rising hip-hop artist hailing from the streets of New York City. He’s known for his hard-hitting bars, storytelling ability, and his commitment to bringing authenticity back to the genre. L Gwoppo’s music speaks to the struggles and triumphs of everyday life, drawing inspiration from his own experiences growing up in the city.

With the release of his debut single, “Focus” L Gwoppo announced himself as a force to be reckoned with in the rap game. The track showcases his impeccable flow and lyrical prowess, while also giving listeners a taste of the raw energy that characterizes his live performances. Since then, L Gwoppo has been steadily building his fanbase, gaining traction on streaming platforms and social media.

Hey, thanks for chatting with us. Tell us a little about yourself.

For starters, I have 20+ years in writing, recording, and composing music. Getting out in the mainstream industry was delayed due to false accusations of murder which were held over my head without conviction or prosecution for 18 years. Now I am putting all of my focus into my craft by completing a full album, working on a mixtape currently, and have already written music for my EP. I am putting my life back on track to become a multi-platinum selling artist.

Who or what inspired you to start making music? And, when did you start?

LL Cool J inspired me and got me started. My aunts were in his video for Around the Way Girls.

What is your biggest challenge as an artist?

My biggest challenge as an artist is staying current but not falling into the trap of fading trends.

What is your favorite project or single you have released?

We have not released a single yet but from the album the first single out the gate will be Hall of Fame.

Who are your inspirations? What artists or bands are you listening to?

I am inspired by Biggie and Tupac. I am not listening to anybody right now. I am very focused on the completion of my projects.

What’s the process behind working on a song like?

A beat I have heard often inspires me to write to that beat, concept, and my experience with it.

Tell me about your upcoming music and what inspired you to create it!

Figure of Speech (Mixtape), White Rocks (Album), and Brick Mason (EP) are coming soon. In my life I have trusted the wrong people and all it got me was disappointment and life delay. I am expressing that in my music. I am a hustler born and raised out of the streets of Harlem. I am now using my hustler’s mentality to elevate me in the world of business.

What are your plans for 2023?

I will release a mixtape, album, and EP. I will also continue to promote my clothing brand Candy Clover and coming soon, Beautiful Elle. In addition, I will promote Gwop Gang Records and Greathouse Publishing which are a few companies I own and started independently with my own finances.

Despite his growing success, L Gwoppo remains grounded and focused on his craft. He’s committed to staying true to himself and his art, while also continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible in hip-hop. With his unique style and unwavering dedication, L Gwoppo is poised to make a lasting impact on the music industry and beyond. You can find L Gwoppo’s music on Spotify or wherever you stream music online.
