Goldenboy Countup, whose real name is Roderick Aaron Golden Jr., is a standout in the uber-competitive Florida rap scene. Goldenboy Count Up has captured listeners with his unique style and kaleidoscope sound that seamlessly fuses the sounds of the Sunshine State with heart-pounding Detroit-style production––giving him a swagger like no other. Unlike Michigan rappers who blur the line between fact and fiction, Goldenboy Countup’s rhymes are grounded in realism distinctive to Florida Rap. In recent years, rap regions have blurred their boundaries like never before and I’m here for it!

Goldenboy hails from DeLand, a city north of Orlando, but the piano-driven instrumentals on his September mixtape Chicken Man evoke Detroit street rap. The inspiration he draws from the Midwest makes sense; like Michigan, Florida contains several disconnected rap scenes and countless shit-stirring personalities. On “Airplane Mode,” Goldenboy casually takes us into a world of dope sales and fast money. “Before I touched a rap I was a five brick nigga, I switched over to Ps nigga still six figures,” he raps, almost in a whisper. He may be influenced by Detroit, but his approach to storytelling is his own.

Having spent years grinding in the regional Florida scene, Goldenboy debuted with “Top” in 2020, and after receiving glowing co-signs from Money Man and Rod Wave, Goldenboy continued to drop successful singles. As part of his Chicken Man mixtape series, Goldenboy released Chicken Man & Chicken Man2 in 2021–a clever reference to his longstanding nickname–as well as IDN2 and Coach Golden 2. Goldenboy kicked off 2022 with the notable release of his project Golden Ticket, featuring the standout tracks “Condo” (feat. Money Man) and “Heavy Motion” (feat. Bfb Da Packman). On September 7, Chicken Man 3 was released, a new album that shows no signs of Goldenboy slowing down. It is Golden Boy’s fusion of gritty Detroit style and a unique Florida twang that is going to revolutionize the music industry!
