Who is DD Osama?

ByKelsey Means August 31, 2022September 20, 2022
DD Osama

DD Osama, whose real name is David Reyes, is a rapper and hip-hop recording artist who is known for singles such as “Without You,” “Dead Opps,” and “40s N 9s.” Hailing from Harlem, New York, DD Osama captures the drill sound very well although he is only 15 years old. His popularity led to him amassing more than 100,000 followers on his personal Instagram account. In every verse, DD Osama delivers gritty, venomous bars at lightning speed. For his talent and vocal ability, you would never expect he just started rapping this year! In addition, you can find more drill rappers from New York on our blog!

Chief Keef is considered the primary progenitor and popularizer of drill music, responsible for bringing it to the mainstream. “Love Sosa“, “I Don’t Like“, and “Bang” became viral hits in 2011 and 2012, and he was subsequently offered a recording contract with Interscope Records. As the sound has evolved from Chicago, it is now ubiquitous worldwide, with New York Drill at the forefront for their original interpretation. With their unique sampled beats and insult-laden tracks, New York is attracting a lot of attention.

DD Osama’s biggest song is “Dead Opps,” which features his brother Notti Osama, who passed away this July. DD and Notti use uptempo beats to create a grim and dark track that taunts their rivals with their clever lyrics. A video for the song was released on July 12, 2022, and has already been viewed over 1.2 million times.

Notti, DD Osama’s brother, was tragically killed in a stabbing in Manhattan on July 9, 2022. After being lifted from the 137th Street/City College subway station by policemen, he was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. DD Osama was distraught and took to mourning his brother on social media, tweeting, “Like why did you leave me? Why you tell me that death is easy?” D.D. Osama now holds the torch and carries on Notti’s legacy. The song “E4N“, a tribute to Notti Osama, was recorded on July 19, 2022, by DD Osama and several collaborators. His name will not be forgotten as the lyrics convey pain and emotion. More than 1.2 million people have streamed the song since it was released.

Over the past year, DD Osama has earned millions of views on Youtube, has over 50,000 monthly Spotify listeners, and has already attracted the attention of major labels. Despite recent hardships, his growth has been remarkable. I hope that DD Osama will continue to be successful in the music industry! Want more from DD Osama? Keep up with him on YouTube!
