An Interview with Pat Black
Pat Black is an American recording artist based out of West Chester, Pennsylvania. From afrobeats to trap music, he demonstrates a wide variety of styles and has the ability to experiment with them all. In the past year, he has enjoyed success with singles like Ting Go Boom and Slide Pose. It is expected that he will release songs with Sada Baby and The Game later on this year. We chat his inspirations, hometown, best single, and more.
Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?
My hometown is West Chester, PA, about 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia.
When did you start making music?
In the second year of the pandemic, I started making music and going hard.
Who inspired you to start making music?
I was inspired by Michael Jackson’s music simply because of the excitement and dedication to the craft that he possessed.
How would you describe your music style?
My music style is different in that I do drill music with afrobeat fusion and then I can also turn around and do regular rap music and sing on the hooks so I’m not a one trick pony.
What’s your best project or single so far?
My current single Slide Pose, it’s a drill record, but females tend to like my other single Broken Love Letter since it deals with breakups or heartbreaks or being torn between two things.
Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?
Black Mask is my upcoming release with The Game. It’s the biggest and best project I have in my roster and it’s going to be massive.
Have any shoutouts?
My shout-out goes to The Game for allowing me to work with him, believing in my sound, and being willing to work with an independent artist like me.
