Who Is Larry June?
Rapper Larry June, whose real name is Larry Eugune Hendricks III, was born April 8, 1991, in San Francisco, California. Larry June spent a large part of his childhood in the Riverdale suburb of Atlanta with his mother, while the rest of his family remained in Hunter’s Point in San Francisco. In San Francisco, his father ran a record label called The Road Records where Larry June got his first insights into the music industry.
After returning to San Francisco at the age of 15, he took some of the knowledge that he got from his father and started selling his music hand to hand in the Bay Area. His music career began to take off after Complex Magazine posted him in 2014 after noticing his buzz in California. Shortly after, he would sign to Warner Bros. Records and would go on to collaborate with Post Malone on “Never Understand”, G-Eazy on “3rd Girl”, & Cousin Stizz on “Down Like That”.
After being put on the shelf as a Warner Bros artist, he left Warner Bros Records, started his label, The FreeMinded, and began releasing his music through Distrokid to streaming platforms. He began to see success independently with the release of You’re Doing Good, Sock it to Me, Pt. 2, and Very Peaceful.
After the release of these projects, Larry June began to develop a cult following because of his positive, DIY, healthy brand. He promotes a positive message of never giving up, living a healthy lifestyle, and living your life on your own terms. In his music, he talks about owning real estate, having good credit, and owning stocks.
He has released over 20 projects independently following in the footsteps of Bay Area legends Too Short and E-40, who have released over 20 projects each. He owns a CBD company, a boba shop called Honey Bear Boba, and real estate in San Francisco. Larry June is a great example of what happens when you put in the work and bet on yourself.
