Rapper Rod Wave, whose real name is Rodarius Marcell Green, is a recording artist from Florida making waves in the industry. He was born on August 27, 1999 and is currently 22 years old. Known as one of the first in the genre of soul-trap, Wave’s powerful voice brings an intense vibe to every song.

After beginning to music in 2015, Rod Wave truly benefited from the social media generation. He gained traction on SoundCloud in 2016 with the release of Heartbreak Hotel. He then put out a mixtape called  Hunger Games Vol.1 before signing with Alamo Records. Rod Wave has continued to gain fans as a result of his unique ability to blend hip-hop and R&B. 

Wave truly catapulted to fame in 2019 when his single Heart on Ice went viral on TikTok and YouTube. The track also reached number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Rod Wave also released his debut album, Ghetto Gospel, that year. Rod Wave subsequently released two more albums in 2020 and 2021, Rags2Riches and SoulFly. 

He was also included on XXL’s 2020 Freshman Class. This solidified his place in the scene. Even with his intensity, Wave’s lyrics and sound are still passionate. This is similar to many artists he grew up listening to, including Kevin Gates and Kanye West.
