An Interview with J Roc

We sat down with MuLaaGang’s own J Roc, a rapper from New Haven, CT destined to make it out of his city. Learn more about him in this exclusive interview with DCR.

Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?

Hi, how are you doing? My name is Jamel Fuller, a.k.a. J Roc. I’m from New Haven, CT, born and raised. 

When did you start making music?

I’m 30 years old and have been doing music for over 5 years now. 

Who inspired you to start making music?

I was inspired to do music by the city I grew up in. I just felt like my city needed a voice. There is so much talent out here and nobody gets heard I want to be the first to do it and shed light on where I come from.

How would you describe your music style?

I can make any kind of music but I favor making struggle rap music talking about how I was raised and how the living conditions are in my city and what I endure on the daily basis but I do have drill music and pop music.

What’s your best project or single so far?

Right now I got Run That Bag Up out now on YouTube and I have my hit single LOL that’s doing numbers out on YouTube.

Have any shoutouts?

I would like to shout out to GOD first and foremost for allowing me to wake up today and breathe this beautiful fresh air. I wanna shout out to my moms, she’s my number 1 lady she knows that I do this for her all day every day. I wanna shout out to my daughter, Ary, I love you baby you know daddy gonna make it happen, captain. I wanna shout out my brother, I wanna shout out my girl, my beautiful wife, she is my ride or die to the end. I wanna shout out my gang, MuLaaGang we do this shit for CHASE! I wanna shout out nochsturdy, my family and friends, and VETO, NANI, RC, BOOMER, RACKEDUPQUAN, King Rocky, and anybody I forgot it’s no hard feelings I love y’all. And shout out New Haven, CT.
