An Interview with Dr. Asia
Dr. Asia is a talented musician, educator, author, and entrepreneur making inspirational Gospel music from Toronto, Canada. We talked with her about her inspirations, message, upcoming releases, and more in this exclusive interview.
Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?
I am Dr. Annastasia Onyinyechukwuka Oraegbunem, known professionally as Dr. Asia, I am a Nigerian-Canadian singer, entrepreneur, and author. I am from Nawfia Njikoka, Anambra state, Nigeria. After completing my secondary school in 2004, I enrolled in the College of Education for a Bachelor of Science in the education program in 2006 at the University of Nigerian Nsukka. I then completed my master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Toronto and earned a PhD. in Higher Educ. Lead and Admin from Liberty University.
When did you start making music?
I started singing at the age of six in a Catholic children’s choir and then began recording in a studio in 2009 for fun and planned to combine education and entertainment as a career. In 2021, I decided to focus full-time on my music career.
Who inspired you to start making music?
My daddy was the one who took me to the recording studio for the first time.
How would you describe your music style?
I sing Gospel to pass messages to children of God and people that want to know more about Christ.
Who are you listening to now?
I listen to Gospel music, Christian followers, and inspirational music.
What’s your best project or single so far?
So far it is “One with God is Majority” from my album “The Perfect Guide”.
Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?
Yes, I have released an album “The Perfect Guide” of 8 songs and I have more songs to release before the end of 2021.
