Go Away Gray is a two-man rock band that was formed in Nashville by Eric Hammell and Joseph Cosaluzzo. The duo moved from their hometown of New Jersey to Nashville to pursue their passion for creating new music. The pair first played together in a band called No Signal back in 2015, with strong influences from Modest Mouse and The Eagles.
Inspired by classic and punk rock, the band has created a unique sound that has won them a growing fan base. Some of their musical inspirations include The Beatles, Whitney, Blink 182, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Eric was introduced to metal music as a child and later became interested in reggae, while Joseph was inspired by Eddie Van Halen and went on to study jazz and blues.
Their music creation process is quite unique. They love buying new gear, such as guitar pedals, plugins, amps, and guitars, to incorporate into their style. They make loops of everything that can be incorporated into the song and then strip it down to its core elements. It’s a process that has yielded great results for the band. Their two singles, Don’t String Me Along and Jessica, have been streamed almost 50,000 times on Spotify.
Go Away Gray’s next single, Chicken Parm, will be released on March 23rd, and the band is excited to share it with their fans. The song was inspired by a breakup that left them feeling like they needed to get back up on their feet and say “screw you, I’m going to live my life.” It’s also inspired by their nostalgia for their hometown by the beach in New Jersey while they’re now landlocked in Nashville.
Looking ahead to 2023, Go Away Gray is planning to release at least two more singles after Chicken Parm. They also plan to tour the east coast and nearby cities, as well as play local shows in Nashville. Eric is completing an audio engineer apprenticeship, which will allow them to start recording their own music. With their passion for music and dedication to their craft, Go Away Gray has a bright future ahead of them.
