After moving to the west coast from Camden, New Jersey, Nesto, born Ernesto Ramos, debuted in the industry with his extended play Underway Vol. 1. Nesto caught listeners’ ears with his catchy and unfiltered track Yola, the third song on the EP, and W.H.W.C., Nesto’s first song ever recorded. “My biggest event was in V.A. I recorded my first single, and leaked it in a club, W. H. W. C. I didn’t have the track available on any platforms but it was my only chance to get it played at the moment. The club loved it, literally,” Nesto said in a conversation we had last year.
Nesto went on to release three more projects in the Underway series—a second EP, Underway Vol. 2, a full album, Underway Vol. 3, and a chopped-and-screwed version of Underway Vol. 1, UNDERWAY MISCONSCRWWD. This year Nesto published another full-length album, LOVE ME WHILE I’M HERE, and a three track EP, Lava Logic, which featured a nine-minute rap over Maryland rapper Logic’s free beat tape, Twitch Tape Vol. 1.
But what’s next from Nesto? He’s an incredibly prolific artist, so we can only expect more singles, EPs, and albums in the near future. After Redman’s shout-out on Nesto’s LOVE ME WHILE IM HERE, we’re thinking Nesto will have more cosigns from music industry stakeholders in 2022.
