An Interview with Ap Floc

We had the opportunity to sit down with underground artist Anthony Perez aka Ap Floc to discuss Floc, starting music in 2016, his influences, and more.

Hey! Introduce yourself.

My name is Anthony Perez aka Ap Floc. The word Floc has several meanings to it, as a word and as an acronym.

When did you start making music?

I didn’t seriously get into making music until about 2016. Since then I have dropped an  album on Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music etc and have several songs and singles on there as well.

Who inspired you to start making music?

Honestly it’s hard to pinpoint an exact person/artist that influenced me. More the whole genre of hip hop and rap music is about my life to a certain extent just like many others in the game and I just writing it down and making music out of it, my kids, myself, my city are all influences on me as well.

How would you describe your music style?

I really think I have an original type of sound, I would say it’s a southern conscious trap style of hip hop.

Who are you listening to now?

I have always been big on J Cole, Eminem, Fabolous, and battle rap, also though I like a lot of southern music and r&b as well: Z-ro, Kevin Gates, Bun-B, Trey Songz, Lil Wayne.

What’s your best project or single so far?

I really like “ The Beach” and “God.. Take my hands” on my latest disk and I have a single named “LBKtx (Thats my S$%*) I just recorded and engineered as well. I write all my own music, record, produce, engineer and master and do all my own marketing which can get tiresome at times …

Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?

I have a couple singles ” Wait for Me” and “ Hear me out” that will be out in a couple weeks and another album in September.

Have any shout outs?

I just want to shout out my mother for having my back for these wild rides we have been on all these years and just know It will all be worth it, Also to Kingston Grey and Kailyn Joy, that’s my heart and soul right there.
