Hey, thanks for chatting with us. Tell us a little about yourself.

My artist name is Marck Jamz. I am originally from Norway. I love music and I love working with children as a preschool teacher. I am outgoing, I have integrity and work ethic. I love to see a project from start to finish and celebrate everyone’s good work. I am a music enthusiast and have been working on my craft as a DJ, music producer, songwriter, and vocalist over the last few years.

Who or what inspired you to start making music? And, when did you start?

I started making music when I was 11 years old. Listening to other artists is one of the best things I did to improve my own music work and find creative inspiration, especially when listening to something amazing.

What is your biggest challenge as an artist?

Keeping up with all the fun and great content people are sharing with the world I miss out on getting inspired by or learn from.

What is your favorite project or single you have released?

My favorite single is a track named Horizon with Josh Butler that got signed and released on Defected Records. It was so fun to be at the Ministry of Sound in London at MainStage when we had finished it and watched it played to a full house of people.

Who are your inspirations? What artists or bands are you listening to?

I really do enjoy a lot of underground 90s hip hop and world-class acts like Nas, Big L, 2 Pac, Biggie, Dr.Dre, Snoop, Wu-Tang Clan, Pete Rock, Jazzy Jeff, Dj premier, and the list goes on. I also love a lot of Japanese hip hop like DJ Mitsu the Beats, Nujabes, Gagle, and Jazzy Sport.

What’s the process behind working on a song like?

I can get an idea of what I’m feeling or thinking about in a moment. I then open up my Ableton Daw and my writing block to write lyrics there and then, I can put on some music in the background that I am enjoying or I can connect what I’m feeling in a moment to create music for an upcoming event I’m playing and creating a vibe from there. I record my own vocals in my studio. I can create the process by adding various drum patterns, synths, baselines, etc. and then I get a feel for where I want to go with it at the current moment.

Tell me about your upcoming music and what inspired you to create it!

There is so much good talent out there at the moment so I do get inspired by new artists I’m discovering but to be honest I love to reference back to the golden era of hip hop and house which gave me the joy I had when I was a kid growing up listening to these genres.

What are your plans for 2023?

Release new music and plan my international DJ tour.

Have any shoutouts?

Enough love to my family, friends, and everyone who supports my music. Thank you to all the amazing labels, DJs, producers, artists, brands, and team I’m working with.
