We sat down with WhoisBriantech, an upcoming DJ and producer from Bronx, NY. We discussed his start making music, his unique style, who he’s listening to now, and a whole lot more. Get to know WhoisBriantech and check out some of his music.
Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?
My name is Brian E Nance a.k.a. WhoisBriantech. I’m originally from Bronx, NY, and now Reside in Ithaca, NY.
When did you start making music?
Started making beats and grooves in the late 90s.
Who inspired you to start making music?
My father kind of inspired me then eventually I took it on my own to get serious with making tracks … producing and DJing.
How would you describe your music style?
With electronic dance music more specifically house music … drums hard hitting with funky hip hop style basslines, and either surreal jazzy to almost ambient style melodies and added grooves that are hypnotic and catchy for the dancers.
Who are you listening to now?
Well Being That I DJ a lot of livestreams and do shows from time to time I do a lot of online diggin various download Stores to play out. I’m mainly digging for afro house, tech house, deep house, soulful house, jackin’ style house music, and even forgotten gems with classic house. anything house music but with mad energy … and very hard hitting.
What’s your best project or single so far?
I definitely feel my best project right now is Homecoming.
Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?
Yes, I have about 2 definite releases coming out this month in mid-February and March on a couple of my sub-labels—WhoSpace and Btec44, and a very special release coming out on Dopewax soon.
