Steve Kramer

Steve Kramer is an international concert cellist, music pedagogue and award-winning entertainer.  He has proven to be one of the most prominent and colorful musicians of today, ascending into classical music’s highest class of performance and musical education. His silvery, singing tone, perspicacious intelligence, musical inquisitiveness and charismatic personality have led him to build memorable bridges to his audience while exploring versatile repertoire from the four corners of the world. In this interview, we chat with Steve Kramer about his music career, influences, and a whole lot more. 


Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?

My name is Steve Kramer. I am a Danish/American award-winning international concert cellist and entertainer presenting my unique live performances and cello sound as a recording artist mastering a most versatile repertoire, from classical, jazz and country to pop, rock and electronic music.

When did you start making music?

I was born and raised by a family of musicians and artists of generations and started playing the violin at age three. I am educated in Europe at two of the most prestigious and world-renowned institutions of music and music conservatoires, The Yehudi Menuhin School in England and the Hochschule fur Musik-Detmold in Germany.

Who inspired you to start making music?

My family of three generations of musicians.

How would you describe your music style?

Classically trained cellist reading all genres of music, performing and recording all over the board: classical, jazz, pop, country, rock, and electronic.

Who are you listening to now?

All genres and all musicians. Classical music is my great passion. Currently playing and recording music by Henry Mancini, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Leonard Bernstein, Georg Gershwin, Guy Wood, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Harold Arlen, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and John Williams.  Honoring the glitter and glamour of the peak of the twentieth-century composition of the musical Hollywood.

What are you most proud of accomplishing?

Touring, performing and recording for international show business and the entertainment industry.
