Who is SoFaygo?

SoFaygo

SoFaygo, whose real name is Andre Dontrel Burt Jr., was born on February 3, 2001, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was born in Michigan and later moved with his parents and two younger brothers to North Atlanta, Georgia. As for SoFaygo’s musical influences, he points to Chief Keef, Rich Homie Quan, Young Thug, Chris Brown, Usher, and Drake as the melodic artists who influenced him to create a versatile style of music-making he describes as “wavy.” Able to make waves in any genre, from rap to rock to hyperpop. With a loyal fanbase and famed rappers Lil Yachty, Trippie Redd, and Travis Scott all paying attention now, SoFaygo feels like he’s knocking on the door to stardom, but instead of waiting for someone to answer, he’s ready to “kick that bitch down.”

SoFaygo is best known for the viral soundtrack Knock Knock. Trippie Redd featured the rapper on his hit song MP5, which became his first Billboard Hot 100 entry. Additionally, he also appeared on the Smoke soundtrack, which came from labelmate Don Toliver’s album Life Of A Don.

SoFaygo’s flexibility as a rapper/singer allows him to change from sad and reflective to spiteful and combative in an instant. Moreover, within a year of making his commercial debut and breaking through with the 2019 track “Knock Knock,” SoFaygo joined the roster of Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack label. His discography has expanded since then with singles, EPs, and mixtapes issued in anticipation of his first proper album.

Most importantly, SoFaygo moves with a sense of purpose. The risks he took, the fights he fought, it was all for this. When everyone doubted, he believed. He taught himself to record, mix, master, script, create cover art, and edit videos in middle school, always in search of his voice. The artist he was born to be. It’s exciting to see him go all the way to the top!
