Yung Mal, whose real name is Jamal Michael Braud, is a rapper who was born in New Orleans and moved to East Atlanta, Georgia where he grew up. First making waves upon signing with Gucci Mane and 1017 Records in 2017, Yung Mal has compiled an extensive discography, releasing the standout songs Action featuring Pierre Bourne and Lil Gotit, GodZilla, and the Pooh Shiesty-assisted banger, “Walkin.” His most recent full-length release is his mixtape 1.5 Way Or No Way dropped in May 2021 and includes guest spots from Pooh Shiesty, G Herbo, Lil Gotit, BIG30, and Slimelife Shawty.

As of right now, Yung Mal has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a gas station shooting that left one man dead. A total of six people were arrested on Saturday, July 10th, in connection with the murders that occurred at the Chevron station at 2450 Candler Road in Decatur, GA. According to reports, Braud was one of the six arrested and charged. Moreover, The report states that the victim and the suspects were seen arguing before the shooting. Yung Mal and the other suspects are currently being held at DeKalb County Jail.

Atlanta’s East Side, rapper Yung Mal got his start in music by writing bars to popular beats before being pushed to work on his own material by friends. Yung Mal’s music is rooted in Atlanta’s famous trap scene, delivering street narratives over the clattering hi-hats and resonant 808s emblematic of the genre.

With more people becoming aware of Yung Mal’s music, his Instagram following has grown to 600k over the past few years. He is also the CEO of 1.5 Da Label, a music label he founded. His legal battles have not stopped him from being a force to be reckoned with.
