Who is Peysoh?

Peysoh, whose real name is Timothy Obotuke, is a young rapper with an up and coming feel. His expressions of dissatisfaction with fairness in society and class are present in his lyrics. Having grown up in a Mexican – American family in the Maywood (6 Block) area, Peysoh raps in a narrative and biographical fashion. He is writing about what he has seen and experienced.

His latest song is titled after the area in Los Angeles that he is from, 6 Block. This song has over 3 million views on YouTube. He raps about where he is from and the environment in which he grew up. 6 Block references the intersection of 56th Street and Fishburn Avenue where Peysoh describes his childhood and the reality of growing up at that spot. He sings about being dealt a rough hand, living in that area, and the lack of choice in one’s own fate. His music touches on broad issues of racial and classist segregation, as well as honest personal experience. He mentions the untimely death of his father, the harshness of poverty, and the challenges of the built environment in Los Angeles.

As his career trends upwards, he has collaborated with many artists including, SvgPreme, MoneySign $uede, and Swifty Blue. Their music together, and his music apart, highlights the area of Los Angeles that 6 Block is about, Maywood. These artists are soon to hit their full stride in the music industry. In a 2021 interview with Rosecrans Vic, Peysoh talks about his rise in the music business and what it is like to return home to 6 Block now having publicly reflected on his childhood there.
