Who is Brad Reid?

Brad-Reid

Brad Reid is a Dartmouth, Canada based recording artist from Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 2021, he was named a nominee for Folk Recording of the Year and Trad/Roots Recording of the Year at the Nova Scotia Music Awards. Brad Reid’s boot stomps as his fiddle sounds its Cape Breton heritage. It’s a high-top leather boot he bought touring Russia with Cirque du Soleil, where he played clarinet, sax, and guitar — while skating.

Brad Reid got his start in music early. He said he started making music at the age of 7 in our recent interview, say that later “when I was 11, I also taught myself to play guitar. Then around that same time I started to learn fiddle – which was big in my family as my grandfather played, and the traditional Scottish/Cape Breton music was a big part of my family’s culture.”

These roots led him to build his own sound within the Celtic and Folk music scenes with his album NEW Scotland, featuring his successful single Northumberland Shores. But that’s not all—he’s got some more singles on the horizon, so if you’re a fan of Celtic or folk music, he’s an artist you shouldn’t be sleeping on.
