Catherine Wynder Reimagines Music on the Violin and Viola

Catherine-Wynder

The violin and viola have been around for ages. Some may think there has been little innovation in music since the classics of Chopin, Paganini, Kreisler, and others. Yet, Catherine Wynder continues to push boundaries with the instrument as she takes a non-traditional career path, focusing on street performance. Over the past few years, she’s created and performed some extraordinary music.

With heavy inspiration from Lindsey Sterling and her music, Catherine often performs covers but shines on her original work. On Synthesis, Catherine combines EDM, Celtic influences, and the violin to create a genre-bending masterpiece.

On 2020’s Stampede (Cover) Catherine connects with Eric Munch and Frank Flezadona to add guitars, cajon, tambourine, and electric bass to Catherine’s violin and viola talents. As Catherine’s newest work, this is a must-listen if you’re looking for new instrumental music. Purchase the song for $1 on Bandcamp.

But, that’s not all. Catherine is turning new tunes into violin and viola covers on her TikTok account, and the internet is loving it. She even covered the national anthem for the 4th of July, and fans loved it. She’s always trying something new. Check her out on TikTok here.
