We had the opportunity to sit down with Finessley, an incredibly interesting artist originally from Pueblo, Colorado. A.K.A. WellyBlanco, Finessley has recorded and released a number of impressive singles and projects over the past couple years, including TakeMeAlive, RainMan, So Low with Cocofinesse, and his recent Feels EP. Hey, introduce yourself! Where are you from?
I’m Finesseley, from Pueblo, CO, by way of Baltimore, MD. But, now I live in Seattle.
When did you start making music?
I started making music in 2017 as WellyBlanco.
Who or what inspired you to start making music?
Honestly, Michael Jackson from the Jackson 5 era. I wanted to be just like him.
How would you describe your music style?
Genjutsu.
What’s been your biggest challenge as a musician?
Honestly, myself.
Who are you listening to now?
Meat Computer, BONES, and Xavier Wulf.
What’s the process behind working on a song like?
It happens for me in the moment – the idea of the song comes from nowhere really, but once I have it I have to create it right then and there. I don’t put a lot of thought into it anymore. I just try to capture the moments and how I am feeling right at that point.
Who is your favorite artist you’ve worked with and why?
My fav artist to work wit is my producer Marskrt. Big shout out to him honestly he always is there for me and got me with anything I need. He always believed in me, big shoutout to Marskrt. Also P2theGoldMa$k, he is one of the ppl i look up to and now thankfully get to work with. I can’t forget CocoFinesse too, he’s like my brother, and I love talking and working with him always.
