An Interview with Sinner – Emo Trap, Lil Peep, and Let U Down

We interviewed California born, Houston, Texas, based artist Sinner and discussed his inspirations, start making music, and best tracks. Sinner can be found on all platforms with the account @sinnerraps. Check out the interview!

Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Southern California, recently moved to Houston. I got the name Sinner from my last name, not the craziest story for a name. Guess you can say I was born a Sinner.

When did you start making music?

I started writing music back in 2017, and made my first track in 2018. I started off with writing short stories, then I transitioned to poems. I noticed that rap is basically poetry with a beat, so I took a stab at it. I never thought of making music, until one day when I was playing games with my friends. We were live streaming, I was doing a lot of YouTube at the time, and we started to freestyle to random beats. They told me to write down some lyrics, and the rest is history.

Who inspired you to start making music?

An artist by the name of Witt Lowry inspired me to get full into it. At the time I was just free styling and writing, but I hit an all time low and his songs helped me through that time. I then decided I wanted to help others through music, just like it helped me. My style was based off of Witt from the start, but I fell in love with $uicideBoy$ and Lil Peep and they play a huge part in my sound.

How would you describe your music style?

I would say alternative rap, sorta falling into the emo trap phase. I have been working on some new sounds, and I do rap from time to time.

Who are you listening to now?

I have been listening to Yxng1rl, Lil Peep, Ian Diorr and Witt Lowry recently.

What’s your best project or single so far?

My best single is “Let U Down” which was a feature with my good friend Kaye, and its currently unreleased. I am trying to convince him to release it, but we will have to wait on that track. My best released single, would have to be “Blurry” hands down. I wrote it within 15 minutes, and everything just clicked.

Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?

I am working on a project called “Typical Story” which is going to be a completely new sound for me. It is about half way done, but I do not have a release date planned yet.

Have any shout outs?

Everyone go follow Kaye on Soundcloud, and every social. That man is going to do something big soon, and we have a few tracks coming for y’all!

Don’t miss out on on any of Sinner’s upcoming releases. Follow him on SoundCloud
