An Interview with Tragically Magic: Cape Cod, J. Cole, Left Behind, and More

We had the opportunity to interview rising Cape Cod emcee Tragically Magic on Left Behind, his other music, and his influences.

Hey! Introduce yourself. Where are you from?

The name’s Tragically Magic. I’m from a small town called Mashpee on Cape Cod, MA

When did you start making music?

I’ve been writing songs since I was 12 years old. Only in the recent few months have I started recording the music I made.

Who inspired you to start making music?

I’ve always had a love for music. It carried me through the roughest times in my life and with some encouragement I realized why am I not helping make what probably saved my life.

How would you describe your music style?

I’m a hip hop artist and rapper but my main focus is to tell my story and send the message to follow your dreams and make the best of your life every day.

Who are you listening to now?

Gotta say A Boogie wit da Hoodie, J. Cole, Tupac, and Kevin Gates got my ears and help inspire me in what I do.

What’s your best project or single so far?

It depends on style really, Best of It and Left behind are currently out and both are my best works from (two) very different styles.

Any upcoming releases from you to look out for?

Early June, the full album … Left Behind will be dropping on all platforms.

Have any shout outs?

Gotta shout out to my mom for having my back, and my Auntie Brenda too for giving me that extra push when I needed it. And, to my boys Cory and Joey, who had my back when I was at my worst for riding with me since day (one).

Stay tuned for more on Tragically Magic! Check out the first official single from Left Behind on his Spotify!
